Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program(OYAP)

OYAP is a Co-op program for students working in the trades.  There are four trade sectors: Construction, Industrial, Motive Power and Service. Sample skilled trades are listed in the preceding section.  For more trade and apprenticeship information visit www.oyap.ca

An OYAP student may be formally registered as an apprentice while attending secondary school with the approval of the Co-op employer and the Co-op teacher.  Accumulated hours can be carried forward and will give students a headstart in the trades upon graduation.

OYAP can be 2 credit Co-op (half day) or 4 credit Co-op (full day).   Full day Co-op is often more practical for trades placements but half day  may be possible.  Consult a Co-op teacher who will arrange a suitable OYAP placement with a licensed tradesperson.

Some OYAP trade sectors  at O.S.C.V.I. Co-op are:
Auto Service
Brick and Stone Mason
