Message from the OSCVI Principal

Friday Night Lights is upon us and we are hosting the event this Friday, October 9 starting at 6 p.m. with the Junior game.  It is an OSCVI vs. West Hill rivalry that shows all that is good in Public Education Sports programs.  This annual event is a highlight of the fall sports season.
Tickets are available in the Commons at lunchfor 5$ or you can pay with our On-line pay system.

Girls' Basketball starting at 1 p.m. with "Buy In" from OSCVI students.
Junior Kick-off  6 p.m.
Senior Kick-off 7 p.m.

This year thanks to Earth Power, your local Kubota dealer, we are hosting the Grey Cup at the event.  There will be food, face painting (red, gold and black or blue/white depending on your alliance).  We will also have our cheerleaders performing as part of the Half time show.  Come out and support this unique event.

** Bring your non-perishable food items and help us stuff a vehicle as West Hill and OSCVI work together and show our community we care.

The month of September has slipped away.  The month finished off with a "splash" as we held our 3rd annual "Muddin for Terry" event, raising close to $3,000 for the Canadian Cancer Socity.  Above you can see the group photo of our Falcon family as we all sat out on the back wall prior to the event.  The staff and students were put through their paces as they ran, jumped, crawled and sometimes slipped through the obstacles en route.  Great work Falcons!!

Your administration team of Ms. Brenda Brewer and Mr. Matt Pickett are excited to be planning with the staff and student leaders for a great 2015-16 school year.
OSCVI is a small school on the East Side of Owen Sound where we value our history, our students and our community.  We believe that every student at OSCVI has something positive to add to our school.  Whether they are dancing in the school play, participating in intramural or interschool athletics, being in a club or simply working hard in school to the best of their ability, Falcons all matter.  We challenge every Falcon, whether staff, students or community member, to strive to do small things to "Make a difference" in the world around them.

If you are looking for lots of pertinent school information, we encourage you to take time to sign up for Flash Alerts which can be found in the left scroll bars of this page.  It is a service that will provide all sorts of public service announcements and information about OSCVI.  This system sends newsletters and school bulletins/information straight to your electronic device and e-mail, keeping you up to date.   Remember that we are trying to help our students live up to our school motto of "While we Live, Let us Live"  If you have any questions, please call the school and talk to your administration team.  We do our best to return all calls and e-mails in a timely manner.  519-376-2010  or

The above image is Professor Terry Copp from the Laurier Centre for Miliitary-Strategic and Disarmament Studies and our own OSCVI student Molly Boley.  Molly presented Prof Copp with a basket of Georgian Bay apples after his talk, the Road to Vimy.  As expected, Prof Copp did a masterful job in setting up the larger context within which the Battle of Vimy Ridge was fought, and engaged students in the decision making processes of the leaders of the time.

We are very excited to announce that we are one of the first schools in Bluewater District School Board to offer parents the convenience of paying online for school activities, field trips and sports events.
For safety and efficiency reasons, we want to reduce the amount of cash and cheques coming into our school. School related expenses will be available online for you to make payment for the next school year.
You can register for your online payment account now and payments will be accepted beginning September 8, 2014.  Click on the image below to get started.
