Message from the OSCVI Principal  "Retirement for OSCVI Assistant Head Custodian:  Mr. James Baker"

Mr. James Baker is a legend at OSCVI.  Above, Jim showed his stuff while participating in the 4th annual Brendan Rourke Memorial Inside Ride.  Jim will finish his final custodial "run" on Tuesday, May 19th and then move into the world of retirement.  Mr. James Baker, affectionately known to some as "Bakes," will be remembered by all staff and students as a hard working, caring and funny guy.  He will be missed by all.  His run was always immaculate and he has been an exemplary employee.  Enjoy retirement Jim!

Welcome to the OSCVI web site.  OSCVI is a small school on the East Side of Owen Sound where we value our history, our students and our community.  We believe that every student at OSCVI has something positive to add to our school.  Whether they are dancing in the school play, participating in intramural or interschool athletics, being in a club or simply working hard in school to the best of their ability, Falcons all matter.  The next month will be a new start for many students as they plan for their future.  We challenge every Falcon, whether staff, students or community member, to strive to do small things to "Make a difference" in the world around them.

On April 1, 2015 we reached an incredible achievement when we surpassed $112,000 raised for Childcan Canada during our 4th Annual Brendan Rourke Memorial Inside Ride.  This event is a real point of pride and teamwork for Falcons and the community.  This year we really received incredible support from our friends at West Hill, as well as Holland-Chatsworth, Alexandra, Sydenham, Bayview and Sullivan.  The event was a huge success and we became the only school in Canada to reach $100,000 in such a short period of four years!

We are always trying to improve our school and would ask that you take the time to complete the school climate survey that is found on the link to the right of this message.  This survey is a chance for you to give us feedback about your school experience.  Our goal is to provide a safe and caring environment that is good for all students, parents and community members.  Help us out and fill in the survey.  If you have any questions, just call. (519-376-2010)  (Use 4-PCZ-090-K as your access code)

Alex Cunningham and Jessica McMann are two students who are part of the Nepal fundraiser being run by our Interact Rotary group.   They had staff and students do messages to Nepal for a donation, giving the money for relief efforts.  Congrats to this community minded group.

If you are looking for lots of pertinent school information, we encourage you to take time to sign up for Flash Alerts which can be found in the left scroll bars of this page.  It is a service that will provide all sorts of public service announcements and information about OSCVI.  This system sends newsletters and school bulletins/information straight to your electronic device and e-mail, keeping you up to date.   Remember that we are trying to help our students live up to our school motto of "While we Live, Let us Live."

We are very excited to announce that we are one of the first schools in Bluewater District School Board to offer parents the convenience of paying online for school activities, field trips and sports events.
For safety and efficiency reasons, we want to reduce the amount of cash and cheques coming into our school. School related expenses will be available online for you to make payment for the next school year.
You can register for your online payment account now and payments will be accepted beginning September 8, 2014.  Click on the image below to get started.
